Veterans of Baylor Spotlight Author

Branch of Service: United States Navy

Victoria Leite is 26 years old and was born in Naples, Florida. She holds an associate in science from Vincennes’s University. She is currently working on finishing her degree at Baylor University in professional writing and rhetoric. Victoria spent a total of 5 years in the United States Navy and served in one deployment. Her deployment consisted of humanitarian work, where she visited Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Vietnam, and Fiji. Her rate in the Navy was a Hospital Corpsman, as a hospital corpsman Victoria was responsible medically to care for the active duty, retirees, and their family members. She has been stationed at Naval Medical Center San Diego in Pulmonary for two years then completed a specialized training at Camp Lejeune to become a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman. As an FMF corpsman she was stationed to a Marine unit at Camp Pendleton for the remainder of her service in the military. What Victoria values most is taking care of other’s and will use her background in military medicine and her professional writing degree to serve her community in a civilian hospital. She aspires to become a Registered Nurse and write young adult fiction and children’s books.

As a student at Baylor University Victoria has been able to take her skills to another level. She has learned technical writing, creative writing, persuasive writing, rhetoric of race, and so much more which she desires to implement in her own work. She is most thankful for her opportunity to be an intern writer for the Veterans of Baylor program and shine a light on the many talented and highly ambitious veteran student’s such as herself at Baylor. She hopes to use her platform to invite you to better understand the Veteran student’s at Baylor and what the program offers for future Veterans who decide to attend Baylor.

With the VoB Victoria has been able to successfully transition into the civilian world with the help of Kevin Davis the director of the program and her fellow vets. The VoB is not just an organization but a family who understands what it is like to serve and transition into the civilian world. The VoB have connected Victoria with resources within Baylor as well as outside of the community to secure educational and medical benefits. With the VoB a vet is never left behind and is something she cherishes most about the program.
