Veterans of Baylor (VoB) is a Nationally recognized leading chapter of Student Veterans of America®. Much like the Germanic "Berserker" (term literally meaning 'bear warrior'), we believe that our strength lies in both our deeply ingrained warrior-spirit (resiliency in the face of adversity) and identities we continue to cultivate as members of the 'Baylor Line' (identity centered on service, leadership and community)!
VoB Functions:
Veterans of Baylor empowers student veterans to embrace their next chapter of servant leadership by fostering a strong community within and beyond our ranks, while celebrating and promoting their continued commitment to service and leadership after the military.
Main VoB Functions:
- New-Student Onboarding Mentorship - VoB Officers provide peer to peer onboarding support
- Warrior Wednesday - Weekly opportunity to connect with fellow student vets and a featured guest/resource
- Invitation to Partners - Be our 'Warrior-Wednesday Guest'
- SVA Headquarters - Connect with the National SVA Community
- Community Service - VoB is active, both serving Baylor's and Waco's community
- Giving Thanks - Annual VoB Faculty/Staff Appreciation Banquet
- Celebrating Achievement - Annual End of Year Celebration Banquet
- Textbook Lending Library - Providing free textbooks to military-connected students
- Telling our Story - Our VoB Historian is collecting the stories of our student veterans for a project with the National Archives
- Annual Veterans Day Celebration! (Battle of the Branches) - Be sure to come out to our annual hallmark event celebrating Veterans Day! All are invited!
Online Community - VoB GroupMe Page
For student veterans, with all of our non-traditional demands on our time (kiddos, jobs, VA appointments, etc.) carving out the time to engage in physical spaces can be challenging. Therefore, we have a place for our community to connect on the go! Join our GroupMe page here: Veterans of Baylor
VoB Membership:
If you are a student veteran, you are considered a "member" by default - no dues or contract required - just come out and engage at our advertised events! However, to be an officer you must submit an application and have a cumulative GPA of 2.67 or better. We will send announcements when an officer position becomes available.
